My Shelf of Collectibles
I've been acquiring collectibles and other cool/random things since about 2017. Today we're going to look at all the stuff that I've been able to put onto my shelf of special items. I will probably add onto this over time.
In 7th grade, I got an NES for Christmas, my Uncle Matt got me this cart to play it and I have great memories of that.
The dogtooth design is just something I'm fascinated with because of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys (plus the toothbrush was "Limited Edition"!) The RAW container came from a place.
My mom got me this Gigi for my Birthday in 2017. I remember because it was shortly after some political campaigns I was apart of and therefore was one of the first things added to my shelf before it was even a shelf. Think I got Steven from a mall where I used to live.
Steven I got a few months ago when a bunch of Gamestop's were closing in the Chicago area. My friend Shane picked it up and sold it to me. Suicune came from ACEN 2018. I wanted to get something to remember my first year going.
This is a pic of me and a friend in either 2016 or 2017. We don't talk much anymore, but I still have this new-Polaroid pic.
So this is a fun story. After those political campaigns, I got my first real job at The Village Vintner as a busser. One day a guy that got his pizza asked me if he could get some oregano for it, so I went to the back for it. I got the container, which was massive, and didn't know what else to do than bring it to him. Then, I didn't know what I was expected to do to put the oregano on the pizza, so I just shoved my hand into the container, grabbed a handful, and sprinkled it on. This guy found it so funny, he thought I was the best guy he ever met and he wanted to get a picture with me (that's on the left). Months later, when I was more experienced, I finally found him again and he asked for oregano on his pizza once more. Knowing better this time, I brought it out in a container, and didn't use my hand. Once again, we had a good laugh and we got another picture. Before we could see each other again, I had moved onto a bigger and better life at Panera Bread. Eventually, when I was getting ready to move out of town to go live where I am now, I decided to stop back in to say bye one last time to the last few people I still knew there. They had this letter for me that is pictured, and I love it :)
The Nightmare Before Christmas figures were going to be sold by my family at a garage sale so I took them. The pikachu coin is from my Pokemon card craze of 2018, Totoro don't remember, and the smash coin is from the Smash Ultimate launch. The Sailor Moon buck was a Christmas gift from my little brother back in like, 2013. Good effort bro lol.
Splatoon ink canisters. I never had the guns because I didn't have the money. I used to play Splatoon 2 a lot.
I don't remember what this is from, but it came packaged with something else I bought online in 2018
These are my fast food handhelds. Growing up at my Grandma's place we had a bunch of these handhelds, mainly Sonic themed ones. Unfortunately, I don't know what happened to those, probably victims of a garage sale, but I found these in late 2019 on Facebook Marketplace. Except for the Monkey Ball one, I had that one as a kid and when I told my mom I wish it was in there, she went online and bought a packaged one for me for $5. Thanks Mom!
Queen Beryl I got at Toys R Us when they were closing. I like Sailor Moon.
Steven Universe Pop Figures I got uh... Actually I don't remember, it may have been throughout my time traveling for campaigns.
I loved Let's Go Eevee, when I found out there was going to be a steelbook I knew I needed it.
Late 2019-Early 2020 I was crazy about Pokemon. I really wanted to play Black & White so I tracked down Black on Facebook Marketplace paired with the hard cover guide book (not pictured because it resides in my room and not on the shelf). The game was great btw.
All my physical Switch games I've gotten since I got my switch mid 2017. I'm proud of every purchase except for somewhat Octopath Traveler, and 100% MK11. That game is a disgrace to graphics, Nintendo, and Ash Williams.
My IPhone SE case. Friend Shane convinced me to go back to Apple in 2017 starting with this phone. I absolutely loved it, until I dropped it in 2019 and it never turned on again.
So I have the box for the Japanese Splatoon Joycons, but I have the American version. I didn't think they were going to get released here so I imported them for evidently no reason.
I grew up playing many of the games on this bootleg cart at my Grandpa's over the summers.
This is the Japanese exclusive clear Gameboy Color that my Grandpa's now-ex-wife brought with her from Thailand. I mostly played Tetris DX and Link's Awakening DX, because they weren't fake or broken or in another language.
Celeste OST tape. Sadly I don't have anything to play this on. Think I bought this in 2018 when I was really into Celeste. I wanted to get something to show for it but didn't want to dish out the money for anything bigger. Although I do have the vinyl on my wall.
Steven Universe vinyl. This is the only vinyl I have that I couldn't put on my wall, because it has 4 vinyls. Unfortunately, in 2019 a bunch of stuff on my shelf fell from being full, and this didn't come out unscathed. the corners have creases, and I don't even look at the vinyl covers anymore because of how crumpled up they looked.
This is my NES notebook. I only used it once to keep track of weapons and stuff in Final Fantasy. I got it at Gamestop.
I've had this Game Gear my whole life pretty much. My Dad had it when I was really little, along with Sonic the Hedgehog and probably a couple more games that don't exist anymore. This thing stopped working years ago and Sonic also disappeared at some point.
This is a free magazine I got at Walmart when Mario Odyssey came out.
This is the box I got when I bought Let's Go Eevee. I love that game and the Pokeball was really fun to use.
This is a painting made by my uncle Jeremy (on the right). On the left is my little brother Darian. This painting is from at least a decade ago probably.
In my Pokemon craze of early 2020, I left my DS Lite by my window and the bottom screen got a black line on it from freezing. I found this new on Ebay and bought it.
Gamestop exclusive pre-order bonus for Mario Odyssey.
My "Hey You, Pikachu!" Toys R Us Exclusive bundle. I have another post on this blog all about this, so go see that post for more detail.
These are the only manga that I have. Not sure how I got the Sailor V ones, was probably around 2015 or so. The Splatoon ones I collected until I dropped out of the game, which is why there's only three of them. I still have yet to read any of these.
My two DVDs lol. Howl's Moving Castle I think I may have stolen from my Mom, not sure why. Rick and Morty I got from my uncle Matt for Christmas one year.
In 2017/2018 I went through many 3ds/2ds systems for reasons, and after selling my last one, it only lasted a couple months before I missed it really bad. In 2018 I got this system to fix that, and I'm never selling it again.
This is something I picked up when I was in Missouri for campaign stuff. My last day there my group and I were going through different places exploring, when we stopped in an antique shop and I found this. $30 was kind of steep and it was hard to fit into my luggage, but here it sits, still unplayed.
In 2017 I got a Nintendo Switch from my friend Shane.
I used to vape, so I got this when I got back from campaigns in 2017.
I don't even like Assassins Creed so don't ask me how I ended up with this trash.
Five Below was good to me in 2019
This is my year book from 2009! I don't know what happened to any of my other year books, but hey, there I am.
I got this from my friend Shane when Sonic Mania came out.
I think I got these in 2017? Vans and Nintendo did a collab. I wish I hadn't worn them (reason why I didn't picture the bottom).
This is the box for my SNES mini I got when they came out. I eventually gifted this to my sister Callie for Christmas.
In 2017 I did a bit of work for a friend helping repair Nintendo's and Super Nintendo's. I used to have my own, but I sold all that stuff a while ago. I'm not sure if these work but I'm pretty sure I just kept them for decoration
When I was into Splatoon 2 I actually thought this was a good idea. How wrong I was. But hey, the box is pretty.
When I was a kid, I used to learn some Piano from my Grandpa with this book. Eventually he got me my own copy so we could play together. I don't play anything anymore so this just sits.
When Mario cereal came out I bought these five boxes (when I was able to find any). Don't ask me why, I just felt like it was something I had to do so here they are.
That's it! Thanks for stopping by to check out all my junk :)
