Mid-2021 Update and what it has been to me

Introduction       Hey y'all. Got a bit of a different thing here for you than what you may have found previously. You're about to get a bit more of a personal look at what has been going on for me. I haven't posted here in quite a while and it's not really for any reason in particular, I just haven't had a whole lot going on that can be brought into a singular entertaining piece. Now that I've addressed the obvious, I'd like to tell you, the reader, and possibly future Kalahn, about what is going on and how it has me feeling.       This year has simultaneously been a lot, and nothing all at once. I'm hoping that this post can sum that up to make sense. It's hard not to draw comparisons with how things were last year and how they are now so you'll probably see me doing a lot of that. It's hard for me to even get a clear picture in my head of how to put this all into a post so I think I'm just going to start with the beginning and work my

2020 Year in Review

Image
Hey y'all! If I'm Windows XP then it's been a second since I was last doing much here. I know, and if you've been here before, then I'm sure you know that 2020 was actually super cool for me. I made a post on Facebook outlining everything cool I did. I'm going to reference that and recreate it here for documentation purposes. Let's get started. When the year started, I drew this Grookey on my whiteboard to celebrate the new year. He ended up being the center of all my accomplishments as the year went on. I have now changed the drawing, maybe it'll be seen next year with another review. This was the end result of my whiteboard.  The first thing to kickstart the year was Mother 4 getting a trailer and officially being changed to Oddity. I was so excited, the very night I found that out I put the trailer on repeat in our living and cracked open a case of beer. I was alone at first, but as the night went on our whole household got in on it with me and it wa

"Super 13 in 1" Bootleg GBC Cart

Image
This is a story and display of a bootleg cart I've had almost my whole life. I have not been able to find anything about other copies of this specific cart or who made it, but I have a general idea of where it came from. Join me, as I show you the cart that I played more than any in my childhood summers. When I was about 6 years old I started going to my Grandpa's place ever summer. His wife, who we all referred to as Cookie, came from Thailand. For as long as I could remember, she had this completely transparent Gameboy Color, and the bootleg cart we're here to talk about. I spent a lot of time playing this thing over the years. In particular, I was always trying to get a higher score in Tetris DX, and this is how I first experienced Link's Awakening.  You'll have to excuse the picture quality, this is the best I can do. This is the menu that it boots to. The games aren't named correctly to the games and romhacks that they actually are. But, I've done the

My Youtube Past

Welcome back to another wacky adventure of mine! Today I'm documenting my past making videos for Youtube. Enjoy. Part 1- Japanese Happenings Back in 2010, my step Grandma, who's Thai, gave me two Thai masks. One was yellow, and the other was red. I was 12 years old at the time, and my friend Colton and I were looking for something to do. Smart phones had just become a thing, and his Mom would always get him just about whatever he wanted. So, he got a Droid. Having interest in making use of his new phone's camera, and wanting to play around with my new masks, we decided to make some videos. These videos would end up being apart of a series called "Japanese Happenings". Yes, we called it Japanese when the masks were Thai, and no, it didn't have anything to do with what was happening in Japan. The first video was taken in my bedroom. With our masks on (I was red, he was yellow), we started pretending to make out and fell onto my bed. We didn't plan this out

Prof. Kalahn's Road Trip 101 Course

Are you planning a road trip? Don't know how to do it? Well, I've lived that life, and I'm here to help you with a list of tips and lessons I learned on the road. I'll cover a variety of topics from planning and destinations to road safety and activities.  Road Safety These are just basic driving rules I've devised to be the best you can be. Kalahn's Speed Limit- I stuck to a speed of 4mph over the limit at all times when on my trip and I never had to worry about cops and getting pulled over. It doesn't matter if you're in a hurry, it's never worth it to get a ticket. The Left Lane- Don't be a left lane hog. It's meant for passing. Also, if you stay in the right lane, you'll be more likely to be inconvenienced by merging traffic. So, if you're not passing or exiting, stay in the middle lane. Oh, and if someone faster than you is coming up on you, just get over for them if you're in the left lane. Don't be a Lemming- You m

Journey to the East Coast

Image
Hello, welcome to my super-duper-awesome-solo-vacation!  If you were brought here by the QR codes in the windows of my car, thank you for being part of the force proving to my friends that QR codes aren't completely useless.      About two months ago I decided that, for the first time, I want to venture out and show the world what I've got. This isn't the first time that I've traveled outside of Illinois. 3 years ago I went to Michigan and Missouri to do campaign work. Almost two years ago I drove to and from North Carolina with a close friend. This time is different though; No work, no restrictions, and nobody to hold me back. This time, it's just me and the open road.      That said, I do have a schedule that I made back when I thought of this, just to make sure I actually have time to make it to the east coast. So, let's go over that, then you can follow along with me on my trip! All pictures will be posted at the end of this article when I've returned ho
